Refrigerators and freezers usually share one cooling system: cold air is generated near the freezer, then circulated into the fridge section through internal vents. When something disrupts that process, you can end up with a freezer that's not cold enough even though the fridge feels fine, or in some cases, the reverse.
A few safe, no-tools-needed checks worth trying first: Check the temperature settings on both the fridge and freezer, make sure nothing was accidentally adjusted. Look for frost buildup around the back interior wall of the freezer. Heavy frost can point to a defrost system issue. Make sure nothing is blocking the internal vents, especially if the freezer has been packed tightly. Inspect the door seal for visible cracks, tears, or gaps where it meets the frame. Check that the condenser coils (usually behind or underneath the unit) aren't caked in dust, and vacuum gently if they are. Unplug the unit for a few minutes, then plug it back in. Sometimes a control board simply needs a reset.
